A House Full of Girls

Three girls in less than 2 years. Yes, we do have our hands full, but so are our hearts.

Cheerios

Erin started eating Cheerios this week. The girl cannot get enough of them. When she sees them she opens her mouth immediately. This is an excitement I've only seen in her before when she is about to nurse. I'll put the first one in her mouth and then a handful on her tray. The funny thing is that she really doesn't know what to do with it once she gets it. She usually bites down with her front teeth and manages to bit a tiny piece of the side but after that it pretty much just rolls around in her mouth for the next couple minutes until it either falls out or somehow she manages to swallow.

Then she attempts to pick some up herself. Not easily done when one hasn't developed any fine motor skills yet. (Are you impressed by my use of a technical term?) Earlier today she was doing pretty good, actually managed to get one or two in her mouth by herself. Too bad it was because she still had bananas on her hands from her lunch. The Cheerios just happened to stick to her hands and she got lucky when they fell off just as her hand got into her mouth. I hope she doesn't expect this to always happen. Or maybe I could wrap tape around her hands to help her out a little. Hey, whatever it takes to be able to eat a meal in peace, I'll try.
